CONGRATULATIONS

FOR
THE TRUE PEOPLE
THE LACANDON DOCUMENTARY
80% of the music featured in this documentary is music I created for
FLOWER SONGS MUSIC
with Indigenous instruments of Mexico/Mesoamerica
A BLESSING
to have my compositions for this documentary
NOTES FROM THE FILMMAKER
“To preserve nature means to preserve ourselves.”
In March 2022, the both of us backpacked
our way to the last tropical rainforest in North America
South Chiapas, Mexico
to encounter the native LACANDON PEOPLE,
the last direct descendants of the Mayas,
on their sacred land.
The Lacandons like to call themselves
the 'TRUE PEOPLE'
because of the essential relationship they have
kept engaging with their environment,
community and traditions
We spent two months immersed in their forest, culture and cosmology,
deeply moved. What stood out from our experience was the paramountcy
of the Lacandons' relationship to nature – to their forest –
with which they cultivate a perfectly harmonious horizontal relationship,
belonging so profoundly that they are blended with it.
REMEMBER primarily is a series of short documentary films offering
to re-animate and contemporize ancestral wisdom found around the globe
to inspire our modern societies to lead a more sustainable and harmonious
existence, weaving the two in the creation of the New Earth.
The project is led by a team of two artists, travelers and visionaries based in Portugal...........

MAYAN DOCUMENTARY
OUT OF THE MAYA TOMBS
I was invited to compose melodies and rhythms with Indigenous instruments
of Mesoamerica for this documentary
"I am playing my huehuetl,
I who hunt for songs to awaken and fire our friends
whose hearts lie listless,
for whom the day does not yet break-
those who sleep in comas,
those who glory in gloomy night when
the flowering dawn already sings her song
and when once again morn lightens the place where
huehuetls play..........."
