Once again invited to
MEXICO
This time by the
SOCIETY FOR CALIFORNIA ARCHAEOLOGY
scahome.org/event-5330973

Join the Society for California Archaeology as we collaborate
with our colleagues from the
Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia,
(INAH) Centro INAH Baja California.

The SCA’s newly formed INAH Collaboration Committee has been
working to organize the annual Southern Data Sharing meeting, entitled
‘Las Californias’, at the Coral and Marina Hotel in Ensenada,
Baja California, from October 19th-21st.

Our collaboration on Las Californias represents a genuine effort in diplomacy between
INAH and the SCA and the next step in a stronger and more closely linked partnership.
We’re gathering to share information on new discoveries, methods, and techniques in the
field, to promote heritage conservation in California and Baja California, to foster professional
development in our field, and more.
There will be an organized symposium and a poster session held at the Muesó Historico
Regional de Ensenada on Saturday morning.

This meeting will be in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere—perfect for students and young
professionals to practice presenting as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with professional
archaeologists from INAH and the SCA in a fun and casual setting.
Presenters are encouraged but not required to be current SCA members.

DECEMBER

12/1 and 12/2

Latino Theater Co. presents

Written by EVELINA FERNANDEZ
Directed by JOSÉ LUIS VALENZUELA

We return to Downtown L.A.’s Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels with
La Virgen de Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin,
the company’s signature holiday pageant that has taken place annually since 2002.

Featuring over 100 actors, singers and indigenous Aztec dancers as well as
children and seniors from the community, La Virgen is the City of L.A.’s largest
theatrical holiday production.

Join the tens of thousands who have become transfixed by the story of Juan Diego,
a simple peasant to whom the Virgin Mary appeared on four occasions in the mountains
of Tepeyac near Mexico City in 1531.
Adapted for the stage by Evelina Fernández from the mid-16th century text The Nican Mopohua.
